Original Comment#1- In chapters 5-8 Randy changes a lot. He doesn't want to get in fights because he saw what could happen when his friend died. He acts more timid. He doesn't want anything to happen to him.
very true Joseph very true... also i think that randy didn't want to fight because he was afraid more people would get hurt even the ones closest to him. He showed simpathy
Personally, I think that Randy doesn't want to get into fights because he realizes that it is wrong and all it does is hurt people. I think that after Bob dies, Randy realizes that Bob didn't really live his life. All Bob did was fight, hurt people, date, and dwell on how he thought his life was so bad. When he died, I think that Randy figured out that that is not what life is about and he tried to impress that on Ponyboy because he thought that Ponyboy would understand. Ponyboy does end up understanding and I'm very glad he does. :D
