Maya, it might be possible that Ponyboy feels intimitated by people with green eyes. He might think that people with green eyes think that they are all that. It is also possible that he has had bad experiences with people with green eyes, such as a soc.
I think Darry didn't mean to hit Ponyboy. I think that Darry is like the "father" of the family and thinks Ponyboy doesn't understand what Darry "gave up" for Soda and Ponyboy. I also think that Darry was very worried about Ponyboy. I think Darry cares about Ponyboy more than he lets on.
Rebecca- I totally agree with you that Darry didn't mean to hit Ponyboy, but he didn't need to hit him. I understand that Darry was worried, but why would he hit him? I know he was mad, but why?
