Sodapop

  1. Sodapop is Darry and Ponyboy's brother once their parents died someone told them that if they behaived they could stay together and stay a family. Sodapop is not afraid of Darry and he cares for ponyboy. If Darry gets mad at ponyboy Sodapop stands up for him. When sodapop whent some where with a friend he would bring ponyboy to keep him out of trouble but when he is with girls he doesn't bring ponyboy. Sodapop has a girlfriend named sandy and wants to marry her but her parents thought the idea was dumb to marry a 16 year old boy so they made her live with her grandfather in flordia. This made sodapop upset because he lost his love. Also when ponyboy and johnny ran away sodapop was in dismay. (This is some things about Sodapop)

  2. I think that Sodapop is the peace keeper between Darry and Ponyboy. Like Katie said when Darry gets angry with Ponyboy Sodapop stands up for Ponyboy. For example when Darry hit Ponyboy Sodapop tried to stand up for him. During the end of the story Sodapop is tired of being in the middle of Ponyboy and Darry. In the end Ponyboy and Darry assure Sodapop that he with no longer be in the middle.

  3. I really liked sodapop he was cool in a way. I thought also that ponyboy looked up to him but. in a way they same alot alike. I also beleive that if sodapop wasn't there that Ponyboy and Darry and him wouldv'e already had a falling out. He was my absloute favorite character. He seemed to have a way with his brothers and with other people. You could notice it when they were at the hospital and people were telling him. I also felt really about the thing with Sandy. I was happy to hear that he was thinking about getting married and that she wasn't like other greaser girls. I guess it just can't be.

  4. I think Soda has a personality that not many people have. He's easy going and only gets worried sometime. You really start to notice about half way through the book that he is the one that keeps the three brothers together, and at the end of the book Pony and Darry both realize that they're "pulling Soda apart" when they fight because they both want him to take a side.

  5. Sodapop is a very happy, upbeat person normally. At the end of the book, Sodapop becomes a little less happy. One reason is that Sandy rejects him. Sodapop really took this hard because he loved her. Also he gets torn apart because of Darry and Ponyboy fighting. He is always the middleman and can't stand it. He gets them to stop fighting though.

  6. I agree with Kate F. that Sodapop loses some of is happiness at the end of the book. I also liked the way Sodapop still found a way to always be happy during the book even when Ponyboy and Darry were fighting. I also think that in the future Sodapop will become very happy again.

  7. Sodapop is really sad when his brothers fight. IT takes a little bit of happiness out of him, it seems that he gets to where he starts to get harder, not lke Dally was. I think he took Johnny's death almost as hard as Pony did. I just don't think he sghowed it as much as Pony did.

  8. Soda just admitted that he really hates it when his brothers fight, but what I don't understand is why he didn't do this in the beginning of the story right before derry hit Ponyboy. If He had done that than many things could have been evoided. But then there wouldn't have been much of a story.

  9. Sodapop is such a sweet person. He's always trying to fix problems between Ponyboy and Darry. I felt really sorry for Sodapop because Ponyboy and Darry never really took as much time as he did for them to listen about what was going on in Sodapop's life. What I really thought was the best in the book was how Sodapop finally stood up to both Ponyboy and Darry and told them to stop fighting. What i was woundering was what would it have been like if Sodapop never stood up to his brothers?

  10. Morgan, if Sodapop never stood up to his brothers, he would never have been happy and I bet he probably would have left. He had a LOT going on in the last few chapters. His brother almost got killed, 2 of his friends died, and his girlfriend left him. It must have been overwhelming and if Darry and Ponyboy hadn't stopped, I really think he would have left.

  11. Liam Lanaghan says...

I also agree with Katie Soda always tells Darry to stop yelling at Ponyboy. If it wasn't for Soda Ponyboy probably would've ran away a lot sooner. I think Soda loves Ponyboy more than anybody. I think Soda is one of the nicer greasers but I don't think he gets much of attention.

  12. I think soda pop is very easy going. I think he is the glue in the family. The glue helps everybody stick together. He is a crucial part of that family.

  13. I think Sodapop is very frustrated with his life. Both his brothers allways fight eachother and try to get him to take sides. He allways tries to get him to stop because he doesn't want them to fight and he won't take sides.
