  1. Why do the Socs try to kill? When Johnny killed that one boy, they made a huge deal about it, but the were about to do the same thing.

  2. Why does Ponyboy run away after Darry says he didn't mean to.

  3. Hannah I don't thing the Socs actually try to kill. I think They try to scare the Greasers so they won't mess with them. They just like terrorising the Greasers and striking fear in them. I also thing the Socs made such a big deal when Johnny killerd that one boy because he was one of their own kind. They don't care if it is someone else being hurt or dieing. - Joseph

  4. (answering Joseph's question) i guess because he was just angry at darry. even though darry didnt really mean to. ponyboy knows that darry didnt mean to, but he was just angry at darry. and the only way to get away from darry at the moment was to run away. just my guess.

  5. i forgot, were they going to arrest Johnny and Ponyboy for killing Bob?

  6. I think that the Socs are mad because they think that the Greasers are just taking "their territory. I think they don't try to kill, they try to hurt other people especially Greasers. I also think they freaked out when Johnny killed that one boy because it was one of their own kind. They don't care about the Greasers or anyone else.

  7. Why does Ponyboy pretend its him who killed Bob? I understand you shouldn't blame a dead person(Johnny) for things he did in his lifetime, but Ponyboy is risking his freedom for Johnny.

  8. What did Cherry mean when she said that things are rough all over?

    ReplyDelete
  9. (answering kate f.'s question) i think she meant that there are hardships everywhere, even if it seems like there aren't. she just meant that it isnt all that easy to be a soc, even if it seem as if they live in heaven compared to the greasers.

  10. Kate, I think that when Cherry said things were rough all over she meant eveybody has problems in their lifetime.Even the rich Socs go through tough times. Maybe Ponyboy thought that just Greasers have problems and Cherry told him the truth.

  11. why did johnny and ponyboy go back to turn themselves in after running away it seems odd that they'd do that?

  12. why does sodapop stand up for ponyboy when darry starts to get mad at him?

    ReplyDelete
  13. (answering tsukichan's question on June 15) Well i think they were going to arrest both boys because they were both there.

    ReplyDelete
  14. why didnt the socs that tried to kill ponyboy and johnny not charged for assult? Because it just doesnt seem fair that you would charge ponyboy and johnny after they used self defence and not charge bobs friends that tried to kill them?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Kate, Ponyboy thought the Socs had all they ever wanted. He thought they were spoiled and had lots of money. When Cherry told him that there was trouble all around, she meant to not think Greasers were the only ones with difficulties.

  16. what are they talking about when they say "JD models or "JD movies"?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Katie, Sodapop is one of those people that doesn't want people fighting!!!! He also believed Ponyboy that he had just fallen asleep and forgotten about the time!!! Sodapop tries to keep the family from fighting!!! After all of the work that it took for them to have a home and food, he didn't want it to get ruined because of a fight!!! Sodapop knew Darry just wanted the best for ponyboy, and that he was just overreacting!!!! Darry just wanted ponyboy to be a good kid, and not to get into trouble!!! Darry was overprotective of ponyboy!!! Also Darry doesn't want to lose another family member!!!! Darry really cares about ponyboy!!

  18. Katie, Ponyboy and Johnny turned themselves in because they knew that they would get caught someday. They also didn't want to be running for their life. If they kept being on the run forever, they would never get to live a normal and honest life. Also Johnny didn't want to put Ponyboy through this. They also kind of returned because they had no choice. They were badly hurt and they were going to the hospital in the city they lived in. Also their identities were found out, and the boys families were notified, well atleast Ponyboy's.

  19. why do the Socs use so much violence? Wouldn't they do the more socialy correct thing?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Good question Kate. I think the Socs use violence becuase they want to get attention. They don't want to do the socialy correct thing because it gets them less noticed. In my opinoin that is why the socs use violence.

    ReplyDelete
  21. i think you make a very thoughtful point maddie, but what about the greasers. Why don't they jump the socs. They want attention to right?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Well Kate it seems like if the socs jump someone no one seems to notice but them and if the greasers jump someone everyone notices the police will search for you etc.. That is why the greasers didnt jump many socs. But in the book it says dally jumped some people and that is why he has been in jail so many times. Kate that was a great question i hope to answer more like that.!.

    ReplyDelete
  23. maya that is a good question maybe it is short for something or just the name of the producer i dont know just guessing here

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yeah I know. I don't see why the greasers don't just jump the socs back.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Maddie,I actually think they might be a little bit scared of the socs. I think that every since johnny got jumped they were scared

  26. Why does the nightmare shock Darry so much if he knew that they happened someimes, and he knew Ponyboy had been threw a lot and there was a reason for him to have a nightmare?

    ReplyDelete
  27. kate f., i think that it shocked darry because ponyboy hadent had one in a while. he was just worried about ponyboy.

    ReplyDelete
  28. maddie the greasers dont want to get into soo much truble such as JAIL. That is why they dont jump back....

    Im just guessing!!!!

  29. what does ponyboy mean when he said " the only thing that stops darry from being a soc is him and soda?????

    ReplyDelete
  30. Why does Johnny's mom come to visit him in the hospital, even though she hates him?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Joseph, she doesn't hate him. His mom probably really didn't want a child. I think she went to go to Johnny to see if he was dead or not. His mom wanted to know if to expect him home anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Thats's a really good question Joseph. I guess she feels she should be there, even though she never has and treats him terribly. Maybe she was getting pressured by a lot of people about why she wasn't visiting him. Katie what Ponyboy meant was that Darry wanted them to stay together. He knew that Ponyboy and Sodapop wouldn't be Socs, but he knew he could. He loved and cared too much for them to not stay with them.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Why do the police shoot Dally?? Did they feel threatened by him, because I thought that police weren't supposed to kill unless a real need to, and they knew Dally was just trying to scare them.

    ReplyDelete
  34. kate they didn't know if the gun dally had was loaded they did it for protection even though it was wrong that is what they are trainded to do

    ReplyDelete
  35. Joseph. I think Johnny's mom probably comes to visit him because she might just want to make sure all the stories are true so that she can brag about how her son is a hero.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Does anyone think that their were more reasons behind Derry dropping out of school? Other than the fact that he had to support the family.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Well, Darry didn't drop out of school, he just didn't go to college. He had to make money to support the family like you said. He could've gone to college because of his scholarship, but he didn't want to. He wanted to be there for his family, and it is possible that he didn't want to go to college.

    ReplyDelete
  38. (( answering harison's question))i think he dropped out because he was bad at it and gave up or he was smart but didn't want his friends and family to know it. Also it was because he had to suport his family. remember he could of been a soc but his family stood in the way that could be one factor of why he dropped out.

  39. I know Dally was sad that Johnny died but why did he try to die?

    ReplyDelete
  40. (Answering Joseph's question July 12,2010)I think he tried to die so he can be with Johnny where ever he. Johnny kept everybody together from not splitting up without him they would not be a group together.

  41. Why did Ponyboy go to the rumble after being in the fire and visiting Johnny wouldn't he be in a lot of pain already from being in the fire?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Andrew, Ponyboy wasn't in as much pain as Johnny was. Ponyboy was knocked out. Remember, Dally arrived at the rumble just out of the hospital. Johnny knew that he was dying and he told Dally before he left to have Ponyboy talk to him before he died.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'm answering Joseph's question.

Dally couldn't/wouldn't die of old age. Dally didnt' want to be known as the old man down the lane. He wanted to die before he got to that age. He wanted to go out they way he had lived. He had livid a dangerous life and died pointing a gun at policemen. I'm sorry the Greasers had to see him die but I'm also glad. If they hadn't been there they might've thought that it was their fault. The Greasers, wouldn't of known exactly how he died. I think Dally wanted the Greasers to find out by seeing, not by reading it in the newspaper. I'm sorry because they just saw a friend get shot.

  44. How could the Socs in the Blue Mustang not see Two-Bit, Pony, Johnny, Cherry, and Marcia? The book said the car was going slow. If Greasers stood out as much as they thought they did then wouldn't the Socs in the car see them? Or did the Socs see them and just go around the block againg before confronting them?

  45. Why did Ponyboy tell Randy he was the one that killed Bob when he didn't?

    ReplyDelete
  46. Does anybody think Ponyboy's addicted to Tylenol? If he takes 4 every night, just to get to bed, wouldn't he eventually get sick of an overdose? Or does he just have a sleeping problem that could've been cured if he lived in the 21st century?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Kate M. i think he has a sleeping problem. Every night he's asking his brothers, do you want to go out tonight? Ponyboy just loves to stay up every night he just can't go to bed;like in 4 in the mornig he still be up he really has a sleeping problem Kate M thankzz bye.

  48. What did Cherry mean when she said, "I could fall in love with Dallas Winston." Did she mean that she could fall in love with a boy like Dallas Winston? Or that she could really fall in love with Dallas Winston?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Rebecca I think Cherry meant that she was falling for Dallas but she was holding back some because she still had feeling for Bob.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Why di Dallas take Two-Bit's blade? He wouldn't have to use it in a hospital.

    ReplyDelete
  51. (Ansering Kate on August 4)
Kate,Maybe he felt safer in the hospital having it? He also knew he wanted to be at the rumble that night and fight .His plan was to fight and get revenge for Jonny. He uses the blade to break out of the hospital.

    ReplyDelete
  52. What is the differance between a greaser and a hood?

    ReplyDelete
  53. It is sad that Jonny does not want to see his mom while he is in the hospital. Ahe does not care about Jonny. His friends are his family.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Why should Johnny and Pnyboy trust the girls they met at the drive in movie? What if it's just a set up?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Aaron- The greasers are the poor east side kids. A hood is just a term for the greasers that people use.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Why did Ponyboy tell Randy that he was the one who killed Bob, even though Johnny was the person who did it?

    ReplyDelete
  57. Macy,

I think that Ponyboy told Randy that he was the one who killed Bob because he was in denial and thought it was his fault.

    ReplyDelete
  58. macy, Ponyboy said this because i think he didnt want johnny to die with guilt. I think he was trying to convince himself that he did it.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Thanks Madison, that makes sence!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Kate Maner- Ponyboy does have a sleeping problem. He's supposed to only take maybe two, but he takes like five every night because he always has had a hard time falling asleep.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Maya- I'm answering your question WAY above that I saw no one answered. I don't think they were going to arrest Johnny or Ponyboy because Johnny only killed Bob for self defence.

    ReplyDelete
  62. (I am answering Joseph's question) Ponyboy ran away because he was tired of Darry being mean to him all the time. He just needed to go someplace to get some air.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Why did Ponyboy bring Johnny with him when he ran away? I don't see how this concerns Johnny.
