I think that Ponyboy agrees with Randy that the fighting between the greasers and the socs doesn't do any good. No one can win or lose. The socs and greasers will still be the same. I think that Ponyboy is very nervous and scared about the rumble. In the book Ponyboy says that he has a feeling something awful will happen at the rumble. I think that what he said is true, and something awful will happen. Probably somebody Ponyboy is close to will get killed or get severely hurt.
Ponyboy doesn't change as much as his life does throughout the 8 chapters. His life changes so quickly. He goes from being happy with Cherry, to getting hit by Darry, to almost getting drowned and Johnny killing someone, to being on the run, to changing his living habits, to the church burning,to going back home, to Darry and Ponyboy being happy together. His personality doesn't change much though.
Original Comment #2- I think that Ponyboy is sort of stuck in the middle of things in these chapters. When Johnny stabbed that one guy, Ponyboy had nothing to do with his death. He also goes though some hardships with Johnny and Dally in the Hospital. I think that he will go through even more hardships the way things are looking in the book
I think that Ponyboy is different than all the other people in the greaser gang. he knows the difference between right and wrong (well, mostly) and he doesen't do anything terrible. I think he has just grown up with bad habbits and bad influences, thats all.
I'm kinda glad that Ponyboy runs into that burning church and gets hurt because it scares Darry so much that he breaks down and cries. This shows Ponyboy that Darry really does have a heart after all and that Darry loves him.
I agree with klara.Because at the beginning of the book ponyboy talked about how darry didnt love him.Also thats one of the main reasons ponyboy ran away from home
