I also beleive that his parents didn't want anthing to do with him because he was in a gang.They seemed to not love him it must have been a mistake to have him.Then you can notice he treats his friends more as his family and that probably angers them.
Well Katie, Johnny's parents are just plainly ignorant. They probably had a bad childhood and don't know how to give him a good childhood. They probably don't really want him near them because they don't want to ruin his life. They might want to give him a good life, but they don't have enough money too, and they don't want to keep him to close. It is also a possiblilty that they are just drunkees, that don't care. They could also jsut be rude, mean, careless, unaffectionate people.

"Stay Gold Ponyboy." Those were Johnny's last words before he died. To Johnny that poem meant a lot; the reason why he told Ponyboy to stay gold was because he didn't want Ponyboy to give up like he did. Stay gold meant to live a long life, stay gold meant to be who you are and to stay true to who you are.
kate are u telling me what johnny's parents are doing to him is what their parents did to them because that is usually what parents will do they will treat their child like they were treated (not all parents do that)
I don't understand why Jonnhy and Ponyboy run away after Jonnhy kills Bob. I mean, its not like Jonnhy wanted to do it, the Socs were drunk and about to kill them! And wouldn't it make them seem more guilty if they run away? Why did they run away?
I disagree with aaron.The only reason ponyboy ran away is because dally hit him.I think that jonnhy ran away mostly because of his ignorant parents.Not just because he killed bob.
I agree with Jonathan, the reason why Johnny ran away was not only that he killed Bob but because of is abusive parents. I think the reason why Johnny killed Bob is he panicked and that was the only thing that popped into his head. I think another reason why Johnny killed him was because he was still frightened from when Bob and his friends beat him up
