  1. i really liked using this blog to do summer reading! it was sooooo much better that doing a project and essays. it really helped understanding the book for me. because i can ask questions and discuss the book with other people and see what they think of the book. the book was GREAT too. it really makes me think about reality. it explains what happens in the world, because there are probably plenty of people in situations just like ponyboy's.

  2. This was a great idea! It taught me, for future reference, how to use and create a blog. If there was one thing I would change, it would be checking the posts after approval, that really annoyed me. I loved the book though! The book showed what mistakes you could make, and how serious they could turn out to be. I'm also really lucky I wasn't alive in the '50's. Fun Fact! Did you also know S. E. Hinton was a girl? I could never tell.

  7. This blog was a lot better than just writing a paper! When you write a paper, you don't fully understand the subject as well as you do by connecting with other people!! By using the blog, we went more in depth into the book! We understood most of everything that was in the book, rather than still having questions about the book, such as in writing a paper!!!! I thought that the blog was a great experience!!! I loved this book too!!! It was a book that you really couldn't put down because it was soo great!!!!

  8. At the end since Ponyboy lost Johnny and Randy lost Bob they all realized that they were all the same even if they were rich or poor. That's what I love about this book and what I realized at the end when Ponyboy says "When I stepped out into the bright sunlight from the darkness of the movie house, I had only two things on my mind: Paul Newman and ride home..." he was the one telling the story the whole time.

  9. This book was awesome! It was a book you can cry to and smile to. At first i thought Who would let a highschool student write a book like this. Now i think i learned alot from this book. I think whoever found this book for us to read they know how to find a book! I think this was a great book! I also think the blog was easier and funier then anything else we would've done.I can't wait to do something like this again! :D Thanks Ms.Breton!!

  10. I also loved using the blog and the book was really good! The blog really let me see different perspectives of the book. I also liked having no time limit because I didn't feel rushed at all. I'm excited for when we do this again.

  11. I liked the blog. I liked it because other people could tell you what they thought instead of just have one idea. I thought the book was good and let me see what others may go through in other places. The blog worked well I thought. It was better than writing a paper and doing a project

  13. I think the blog was a good way to express how you feel about different characters. And to ask questions about things you didn't understand, but it was hard for me to find questions for me to answer because they were either already answered or their were none.

  14. I really liked this book. When I started reading it, I didn't think I would, but I did. Compared to past summer reading books, this book was the most mature of them. I liked that.

  15. I really loved the book and the blog. The book, unlike most, had me interested from the beginning. Now the blog... I'm not the best with computers so it was a tinsy bit difficult for me in the beginning! But, after I got the hang of it I really enjoyed it! I really enjoyed not having a time limit, well I mean you had to finish the book by the end of the summer! It was an easy way to really get your ideas out while, nicely, agreeing and disagreeing with others. Over all I think doing a blog is a great way to do summer reading!

  17. I thought the book started slow but it got way better when the action started between the greasers and the socs. At certain points in the book I felt like I stepped back in time. Then I realized I would not have made it in the 50's. I really enjoyed blogging instead of writing a report!! Good book!

  18. This book was the best book I've ever read, and I've read some pretty good books over my 12 years and never called them the "the best book". I liked it ,because there was alot of info about the 50's and how it was back then. And there was a good bit of drama, and there was enough action in the book to keep me hooked. It was really sad when Johnny died and even sadder when Dally made the police kill him. Very good book I'd recommend it to anyone who asks me about it.

  19. I loved this book!! It was such a great book!! I also liked blogging. It was WAY more fun than writing a summary. I think that blogging is better than writing a summary because if you have a question and you write it on your blog, others can answer it. Also, you can see other peoples opinions and that helps you think deeper. The author ends this book in a very clever way. It really satisfys the reader (well, it satisfyed me). A lot of authors don't end their books in a good way, but this author did and she was only 16!! I LOVED this book and I'm glad it was a summer reading book. :)

  20. First off I would like to say that whoever came up with the blogging idea is very smart! It's a great way to express your opinion and your thoughts on the book. I loved blogging about The Outsiders. This book was absolutely flawless! S.E. Hinton ended the book VERY well even though she was 16 as Klara said above. Thanks everyone for the answers on my questions on this book!
